Troubadour R (fr. 22543) Foliation Comparison

There are differences in the foliation used for manuscript R; this originated with the missing folios that originally were f. 73-74. The foliation in the manuscript itself (also used for the Gallica navigation) does not include those missing folios and also has a numbering oddity because one folio is labeled 84-85. In Elizabeth Aubrey's study of R, she adjusted the foliation to account for the two missing folios (the same numbering system is used by the BEdT). For this reason, sometimes one melody may have two conflicting locations given in different publications.

The following table shows the corresponding foliation for the Manuscript/Gallica, the almost identical foliation in Hendrik Van der Werf's edition of the melodies, and that used by Aubrey and the BEdT. Only differences from the foliation in the manuscript are marked. In song records from R on this site affected by these different foliations, two folio numbers are given: the first corresponds to the manuscript itself, and the second (in brackets) corresponds to the numbering used by Aubrey and the BEdT.
