Comments:

The version in Ms X has a missing pitch over the last syllable of "gaires." In other versions, this line is six syllables instead of seven so the notes are the same set of pitches without a lacunae. In the second appearance of the pattern "g ga g" (found in the corresponding phrases 4 and 8) the pitches are notated as "g ga f" but Tischler gives G at end (over florie) to match the first phrase. There are six other versions of this melody representing four texts that use this melody: two in Old French ("Je chant conme desvez," attributed to Jacque de Hesdin in all four of its manuscript appearances, and "De Yesse naistera"); this version is Old Occitan with Old French influences; and one in Latin attributed to Phillip the Chancellor ("Homo, considera, qualis, quam misera").
